On  page 98 of the biography I refer to an internal document written by Jock Haston in 1946 in which he argued that Russia had “both capitalistic and socialistic features”. I am grateful to Mike Pearn for providing me with a link to the full text of this document http://neprimerimye.blogspot.co.uk/2008_07_01_archive.html   While Haston remains within the limits of “orthodox Trotskyism”  the article contains many interesting arguments, and shows how the argument had developed in the RCP before Cliff’s arrival.
